Public Ledger

The physical layer of global supply chains

The sites that matter most to global supply chains are often the ones companies know least about: mines, mills, refineries, plantations and processing hubs whose disruption can cascade downstream — and where the first sign of trouble is physical, not disclosed.

RondoTrace observes these sites from space, continuously measuring change across seven observation domains against each site’s own physical baseline.

This Ledger makes that evidence public: 137 strategically significant industrial sites across 56 countries, selected for their importance to global supply chains.

We publish it because those exposed to these sites often learn about change last.

02Active signals

The most active sites.

The sites reading highest right now, each led by whichever domain is worst.

Kibali Gold Mine

active

DRC · Mining · 3.11° N, 29.59° E

13 hectares of forest have been cleared here since the end of 2020

31 December 2020 is the cut-off in the EU deforestation rules, and this site grows a commodity those rules cover. Last checked 7 August 2026.

Next step: Identify the affected concessions and whether any of them supply the EU.

Observed

  • The vegetation ring around the site is thinning against its own earlier record, and the disturbed ground is spreading outward into it.
  • The air over the site is markedly dirtier than the air immediately around it, across the whole period.

Not established

  • It does not establish tenure, legality, operator identity, or whether any commodity entered a supply chain.
  • No chemistry, no groundwater, no soil composition.
  • Column totals, not ground-level concentration.

Mikhailovsky GOK

active

Russia · Mining · 52.31° N, 35.42° E

The vegetation ringing this site is thinning, and the disturbed ground is spreading into it

measured against the same ring in the site's own earlier record, so this is a change at the site rather than a dry season or a bare pit. Last checked 7 August 2026.

Next step: Confirm the disturbed area against the permitted boundary, and whether rehabilitation is bonded.

Observed

  • The air over the site is markedly dirtier than the air immediately around it, across the whole period.
  • Forest is being cleared inside the site boundary.

Not established

  • No chemistry, no groundwater, no soil composition.
  • Column totals, not ground-level concentration.
  • It does not establish tenure, legality, operator identity, or whether any commodity entered a supply chain.

Weda Bay Nickel

active

Indonesia · Mining · 0.49° N, 127.95° E

Forest is being cleared inside the site boundary — 65 hectares in the last six months

radar picks this up through cloud, so the wet season does not hide it. Last checked 7 August 2026.

Next step: Identify the affected concessions and whether any of them supply the EU.

Observed

  • The air over the site is markedly dirtier than the air immediately around it, across the whole period.
  • Built-up land and night-time lighting around the site changed enough to be worth a human look.

Not established

  • It does not establish tenure, legality, operator identity, or whether any commodity entered a supply chain.
  • Column totals, not ground-level concentration.
  • The satellite record cannot observe conditions of work.

Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP)

active

Indonesia · Mining · 2.83° S, 122.17° E

Forest is being cleared inside the site boundary — 72 hectares in the last six months

radar picks this up through cloud, so the wet season does not hide it. Last checked 7 August 2026.

Next step: Identify the affected concessions and whether any of them supply the EU.

Observed

  • The air over the site is markedly dirtier than the air immediately around it, across the whole period.

Athabasca Oil Sands

active

Canada · Oil & Gas · 57.00° N, 111.50° W

The land inside this site is markedly less green than the untouched land around it

a gap of that size does not come from the season or the local climate, so it is the site rather than the weather. Last checked 7 August 2026.

Next step: Confirm whether the clearance is permitted and rehabilitation bonded.

Observed

  • The air over the site is markedly dirtier than the air immediately around it, across the whole period.

Not established

  • No chemistry, no groundwater, no soil composition.
  • Column totals, not ground-level concentration.

How we use the satellite record.

Source

Every finding derives from publicly archived Earth observation. Scene identifiers for any finding are available on request.

Observation, not allegation

Each card records a physical signal — measurable change detectable from orbit. It is not a statement of wrongdoing. The satellite record cannot determine intent, causation, or operator practice. Operators remain responsible for explaining what an observed signal represents on the ground.

Operator response

Site operators who believe an observation is inaccurate or requires context can submit a documented response to adarsh@rondotrace.com. Verified responses appear on the relevant card. We update the public record as new evidence arrives.
